A DAY WITH FRIDAY

Small things, quietly connected.

09:00

The important email.
Already noticed.

A building notice becomes a calendar reminder. A decision that needs you comes to your attention.

17:30

Heading somewhere?
Set the mood.

Music informed by where you are, what’s coming up and what you’re likely doing next.

20:00

A softer landing.

Room-aware lighting and familiar routines, with manual control always close at hand.

01 / THE IDEA

Useful before
you have to ask.

01

Context becomes action.

Friday looks through email for important events, adds relevant items to your calendar and surfaces decisions that need your attention. Less searching for what matters. More knowing what comes next.

02

Music meets the moment.

Ambient music curation draws on location, upcoming events and inferred intent to shape a soundtrack around your day. A proactive companion that considers the situation, not just a playlist request.

03

Technology that feels familiar.

Native experiences across iPhone, Apple Watch and Mac, designed around clear interactions and everyday habits. The ambition is simple: useful software that feels effortless.

02 / FRIDAY HOME

The same thoughtfulness.
Around your home.

Friday Home is the companion home-automation project: coordinating rooms, sensing occupancy and daylight, and managing lighting and daily routines.

Built around Raspberry Pi, MQTT and Home Assistant, it works alongside the personal agent to connect digital context with the spaces you live in.

Room-aware routines · Daylight-aware lighting · Manual overrides

03 / INDEPENDENTLY BUILT

Hi, I’m Joshua.

I’m Xu Ji (Joshua), an independent software engineer in British Columbia, Canada. After building software at Microsoft, I began focusing on personal tools that make everyday life feel simpler.

Friday is an independent product in beta, with onboarding still in development. I’m building both the native experience and the architecture behind it—from persistent agent state to reliable coordination across devices and the home.
